Congrats to Central Wisconsin Service Youth Apprentice Brynden Beck for taking down an impressive buck over the weekend. I don’t have any details yet, so you’re just going to have to enjoy the picture. If you’ve followed the pool at all over the years you know that Brynden’s dad, Justin, has his name all over the all-time list. Looks like Brynden will be giving dad a run for his money. The student has become the master. Bonus points for wearing the TG hat in his buck picture. Congrats on an awesome buck, Brynden!
The past weekend I hunted pretty hard only leaving the stand for a couple hours each day. We had some really good activity with young bucks grunting and chasing does. They were definitely on their feet. Sunday was a great morning with multiple young bucks searching but not a lot of does on their feet. In the afternoon it was much slower but with about 30 minutes of light left a medium size 8 pushed a doe up by me and grunted. When he did that I heard a low grunt from my left and a really nice buck came over the small ridge. He circled the 8 and gave me a 29 yard shot. I took the shot and it felt really good. I checked my arrow and it was coated. It was pretty dark red so my dad and I gave him a little bit. We assumed it may have been further back than I thought. We started on the blood trail and it was a solid trail so we went kept going. We found the deer within 120 yards from where I shot him. It was a great night and my best buck to date!
