Tyler Knauf Gun Buck

Congrats to Tyler Knauf on his buck taken in Lincoln County! Tyler is a BAS Project Manger at our De Pere location.

“It was a pretty cool 20th anniversary of hunting the same public land up in Lincoln County with my family for gun season.  The red squirrels seemed to take over in my area this year as the sound of damp, yet crunchy rustling leaves was scattered in nearly every direction at first light.  I never differentiated the squirrel’s rustling for a deer headed my way until I caught a glimpse of a body through some thick cover off to my left.  He was about 70 yards away headed quickly towards a shooting lane which is maybe as wide as a broadside deer.  I knew right away that if he got past that lane, I likely wouldn’t get another shot as it got very thick just past it.  It couldn’t have taken more than 5 seconds total to catch a glimpse of the deer, grab my gun, throw the safety, get the scope up, see the antlers already moving through the lane, get the crosshairs on the body and pull the trigger. Right at about 6:45 am on opening day.  And to top off the day, it was the first time in 20 years that my brother and I both shot a buck on the same day of hunting together. For more context, my brother was on a 13-year buck draught, and I hadn’t shot a buck in 5 years. Needless to say, 2 bucks down by 8 am opening morning was awesome.”
