Congrats to Zach Zuberbier on his nice buck taken during the youth hunt! Zach is the nephew of Mike Paul who is an Account Manager out our Wisconsin Rapids location.
“My nephew came up from Milwaukee to hunt with me in Stevens Point for the youth hunt. I knew that the most likely stand where he could see bucks was the stand I typically sit in, so I gladly gave up my spot and sat in one of my less active stands. Just so happens that as we were checking my trail camera cards on Friday night, we found that a nice 10-point buck had been by my stand the night before, so he was really pumped up about being in that stand the next day. He got up early Saturday morning and was walking out the door before I could even get my gear on. He didn’t see any deer Saturday morning, but he wasn’t discouraged because he knows the deer at my place typically show up in the afternoon/evening. After coming in to have breakfast he wanted to go right back out. He sat all Saturday afternoon waiting for a big one to come out. With about a half hour of shooting light left, I heard the gunshot that I had been waiting to hear all day. When I walked over by him and asked what he shot at he told me that he had 6 bucks by him and picked the biggest one. He followed the blood trail about 50 yards in the dark and there it was. Even though he got this battle hardened 6 point I believe he was just as happy with that buck as he would have been had he gotten the bigger one that we saw on camera. This was the first deer that he field dressed himself and fully participated in processing the deer. I could not have been a prouder uncle. I’m sure it’s a weekend that neither of us will forget.”
