Congrats to Tim Roycraft with his buck taken on Oct. 12th in Eau Claire County! Tim is a Plumbing Foreman out of the Altoona location.
“With the moon phase looking perfect and a cold front pushing through, I knew this week was my chance – the bucks were finally moving in daylight. I settled into my ladder stand at 3 PM, and right away had a doe beneath me feeding on acorns. After some quiet time, a smaller 8-pointer came in for a drink at my water hole.
Then I caught movement – a mature buck cruising the field edge 200 yards out before melting back into the timber. My pulse quickened as I gripped my bow, betting he’d circle back to water. Twenty long minutes later, there he was, working down the trail straight toward me. He stopped at the water hole just 10 yards away, facing directly at me as he drank. For five agonizing minutes, my heart hammered while I waited for my opportunity.
Finally, he turned to leave. I drew back and found a narrow shooting lane through the maples. The arrow found its mark perfectly behind the shoulder, blood visible instantly as he bolted across the cut bean field. I kept my eyes locked on him until he tipped over 200 yards away. A beautiful 8-point and a hunt I’ll never forget.”
