Congrats to Mike Paul with his bow buck taken in Portage County, WI! I have to apologize as I didn’t see this email until today when Mike was asked about it today. Mike arrowed this buck back 0n 10/23/25 and wrote a great sorry about it. Thank you Mike and Congrats on this buck. Mike also stated to me today that things have died down a bit but he did get a real nice 8 camera that he will be going after during the gun season! Good luck! Mike is an Account Manager out of our Wisconsin Rapids location.
“I hunt on my property in Portage County. I went out last Thursday after work just to see what was happening in the woods, and by no means did I expect to encounter this guy. Around 5:30 I heard a bunch of commotion and saw does running around 75 yards away. I thought I saw a small buck chasing after them. A few minutes later I saw a spike buck heading my way and then about 10 yards behind him was this guy. He got within about 30 yards and then decided to stop and stand behind a tree. His head was sticking out on one side of the tree, so I was able to get a good look at him. He was too nice for me to pass on, so I got ready to take the shot. After what seemed like 10 minutes he took a few steps forward, stopped, stood broadside, and I put a good shot on him. I didn’t see him drop, so I gave him until about dark before I started tracking. He dropped within 40 yards of where I shot him. Got him right in the pump house. I had been watching this buck on my trail cams since early September, and he was the one I was after. This is my personal best buck and the first buck that I harvested at my place since moving in June 2024.
