Todd Poeschel was able to bag this buck during the gun season in Buffalo County! Todd is a Pipefitter Foreman working out of our Altoona location. Todd’s family was also successful as his son Ryan hammered a doe and his other son, Evan, took his girlfriend Larissa along for the hunt. Larissa shot a very impressive 8 point! Check out the pics and stories below! What a season for the Poeschel family! All that hard work on their farm and deer management have been paying off!
Ryan’s doe story:
“With the last night of hunting upon us, my youngest child Ryan and i set out. We went to the far north end of our farm as we knew some doe’s were down there. I think the kid was ready to be done as he said he was shooting the first adult deer that came out and I had really no intention of even firing a shot this season as it was about him. Shortly after 4, a fawn appeared and it kept looking back and few minutes later a nice doe came out to the corn field. The kid steadied his rifle and took her. He was tickled and dad was pretty happy! So know I’ll Paul Harvey you with the rest of the story.
Todd’s buck story:
After Ryan’s shot, he got out and I went back to other end to get the ranger. I had unloaded my gun and was carrying our gear. As I got near the other end, a doe came running over hill. So I stopped and loaded my rifle just in case. Well “just in case” came across the field chasing her! I saw the split tine and had to make a quick decision. He came about 100 yards away and I shot. He took off so I gave him 1 more 300 short mag and he fell! Nice buck! Broken brow and a broken tine that both should make 1” or more. We’ll see. 17” spread. Once again thanks for running the pool and the work you do!”
Larissa’s buck story:
This is my oldest son Evan, girlfriend Larissa and she lives with us. Evan has shot some big bucks under his belt and he gave her the opportunity as they sit together. He said his crosshairs were on it if she missed! 😁We brought it to the taxidermy lady and did a quick tape. We came up with a green gross score of 157”. For a straight 8 that’s impressive only 15” wide 18 outside. That’s mass! Some of the mass measurements were 6 and 7 inches and one of the tines measured 13 inches!”
