Vince Jirik IV tagged his first buck with a bow on Friday, October 30, in Shawano County, Wisconsin.
Vince has been bowhunting since he was about 13, but more years than not, he was busy or didn’t get out, and life only gets busier. A new property that’s a lot more convenient changed that. He went back into bowhunting hard, and he loves it.
He had multiple bucks on camera, but this one always hung around. The buck came in a half hour before dark and stayed for a while. Vince’s plan was to let him eat and walk off and hope for a bigger one. But the buck was big-bodied and old and on the decline, so Vince sent his dad a video of the buck walking and asked what he thought. His dad told him to put his first bow buck in the books.
With time on his side, Vince made a good shot. The buck ran 20 yards, stopped and stood for a minute, then laid down. That’s where it ended.
Vince is a Local 400 steamfitter currently working at our fab shop on Contract Drive in Ashwaubenon. Congrats, Vince, on a great first bow buck!
