Casey Liegeois took his son, Jackson, down to Kansas for the youth season over the first weekend in September. It was a hot one, with temperatures topping 100 degrees in the middle of the day. They didn’t see many bucks the first day or the second morning, so in the middle of the day on September 6, they came up with a new game plan and headed to a different spot.
They made their way in by dropping into a dried-up creek bottom and following it all the way down to a stand on the edge of a bean field. As soon as they got settled, they saw bucks in the beans. Jackson had his eye on one buck in particular, and they watched him stand up and bed down multiple times before he finally started to move.
Jackson stood in the ladder stand while Casey sat in a hang-on stand next to him, and Jackson rested the gun on his dad’s leg for support. He did a great job working through the shot and dropped the buck in his tracks at 140 to 150 yards.
It was an all-around amazing trip, and Casey says time outdoors with his son is his favorite.
Casey is a Food & Beverage Estimator in our Wrightstown location. Congrats, Jackson, on an amazing buck, and thanks to Casey for sharing the story us!
